Life starts with education – it is the fundamental right of every human being. Education is a companion, which no future can depress, no crime can destroy, no enemy can alienate and no nepotism can enslave. We believe that education is the single most important catalyst for global health and well-being.
Unfortunately there are millions of children worldwide who are deprived of their educational and human rights. How can children overcome adversity in a world where HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, drug abuse and physical violence threaten them on a daily basis if they cannot read or write?
To reach these children we have chosen sport as the medium. Sport gives us the chance to meet children on common ground, regardless of our age, gender, social and economic differences. If these children cannot come to us, then we must go to them.
Through the Sven Tumba Education Fund we can help give these children a supporting social, educational and sporting structure which will keep their attention on what is important, while simultaneously giving them the chance for a new beginning. In union there is strength, and together we can give them an opportunity for a better life.
We have an enormous opportunity, and responsibility, to make a difference and to contribute and shape a healthy future for these children. These children are our future, and they will determine the outcome of humanity as a whole.
